Senior Advisor, Office of the Mayor

City & County of Honolulu / 2004-2010

Served as acting deputy director of 150-person IT department, and worked on Internet development and Joint Traffic Management Center/EOC planning team. Also served on Mayor Hannemann’s senior staff and media team. Also, appointed as Director of Economic Development (2004) and a member of the Mayor’s Energy & Sustainability Task Force.

Served as senior account supervisor for major clients, with freedom to direct all creative and to pursue new business. Instrumental in the launch of national automotive syndication division. Within first year, reorganized agency and helped to more than double the agency’s capitalized gross billings. Opened Austin satellite office in January of 1997.

Responsible for all aspects of management for this full-service advertising and public relations firm. Acquired accounts including luxury automotive, hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, real estate developments, utilities and political campaigns for mayor and governor. Developed and managed marketing and advertising plans, including major public information campaign for Morrison Knudsen and AEG Westinghouse. Greatly increased productivity by training staff on the latest digital pre-press and non-linear video production technology.

Served as account supervisor for acquisition and management of $10-million dollar account group including: Continental Airlines, Avis Car Rental, Bose Electronics, Jack in the Box, Kaiser Development Company and political campaigns for mayor, U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate. As the agency creative director, supervised all copy writing, art direction and broadcast production with award-winning results.
